The Australian Open matches got underway on Wednesday 23rd January 2013, which takes place in Melbourne Park, Australia.
Day 9 of the tournament went away smoothly as three of the top four seeds won their quarterfinal matches comfortably.
In men’s single, Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer are moving to the semis, and they will have clash in the semis for the second consecutive time at a Grand Slam event. Djokovic is performing better of Ferrer at the U.S. Open last September.
Men’s No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looked active on Day 9, winning his quarterfinal over fifth-seeded Tomas Berdych with great ease by 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Berdych struggled to break Djokovic’s serve, doing so just once in the second set, the only set the Czech player would win. The second set would last nearly an hour, the longest of the match.
On the other hand, in the women’s single, Maria Sharapova and Li Na won their quarter-finals easily and now once again playing against each other in semi-final. That semifinal will be a rematch of last October’s WTA Tour China Open semifinal, which Sharapova won with no trouble.
