In 2013 Australian Open, the women’s semifinal proved to be of much excitement
After eliminating Serena Williams earlier in the tournament, 19-year-old Sloane Stephens ended in a defeat against top-seeded Victoria Azarenka in straight sets with 6-1, 6-4.
After emerging as the most dominant player in the tournament for the first 10 days, No. 2 seed Maria Sharapova was knocked out in straight sets by Li Na with 6-2, 6-2.
Li Na and Victoria Azarenka will face each other in the final play of Australian Open on Saturday morning.
On Friday, it will be finalized that who will face two-time reigning champion Novak Djokovic in the men’s final. Djokovic has already beaten the fourth-seeded David Ferrer, dropping only five games in three sets.
Second Men’s singles semi-final between Roger Federer and Andy Murray will take place in Rod Laver Arena. Federer has the advantage of winning the last encounter, but Murray entitled for the gold medal by dispatching Federer in straight sets in London’s Summer Olympics.
