After winning the T20 series earlier this week, England will now take on New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton, in the first of a three-match ODI series. The conditions at Hamilton are supportive of plenty of runs only if the teams learned to utilize them.
The hosts would be looking to grab a victory in the opening match to get an edge over the visitors. This would be the 19th ODI in Hamilton ground and the first for two years. New Zealand have 10 wins and 4 defeats from 15 games on this ground while England lost their only game here in 2008. Kiwis will largely bank on Martin Guptill to get his team a good start and immediately put pressure on the England bowlers. The probable Kiwi squad will include: 1 Martin Guptill, 2 BJ Watling, 3 Kane Williamson, 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Brendon McCullum (capt & wk), 6 Grant Elliott, 7 James Franklin, 8 Nathan McCullum, 9 Kyle Mills, 10 Trent Boult, 11 Mitchell McClenaghan.
On the other hand, the English team would be filled with confidence after T20 series win and would be in the hunt to gain an early lead in the opening ODI match. James Anderson needs to make great use of the swinging conditions and go to pick up early wickets to support his side to get through with a win. The likely English lineup will include: 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Ian Bell, 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Joe Root, 5 Eoin Morgan, 6 Jos Buttler (wk), 7 Chris Woakes, 8 Stuart Broad, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 James Anderson, 11 Steven Finn.
