On Day 4 of the opening test match, Sri Lanka left-hander Kumar Sangakkara took steady charge with a positive start towards a challenging 370-run target after South Africa declared on Saturday.
The former captain remained not out on 58 as Sri Lanka reached 110 for 1 by the day’s close, requiring another 260 runs on the final day with nine wickets left.
Sangakkara shared an unbroken second wicket stand of 96 runs with Kaushal Silva (37 not out) as Sri Lanka suddenly found themselves competing after being dominated till before the final session of play.
