The MotoGP Musical Chairs is coming to shape and should have some more firm announcements very soon. Moto2 riders will be moving up to MotoGP while current riders will shuffle around. Let’s take a look at how it is unfolding.
Repsol Honda
With the announcement of Casey Stoner’s retirement at the end of the 2012 season this opens up a big seat on the Repsol Honda squad. Moto2 sensation is penciled into to fill Stoner’s ride now that the rookie rule has been disolved. Dani Pedrosa is said to renew his contract with Honda as well
Ducati
Valentino Rossi recently had a meeting with the new Audi management of Ducati and was happy about what he was hearing. We expect him to stay on with Ducati. Cal Crutchlow is said to be replacing Nicky Hayden on the Ducati team while Rossi’s teammate Nicky Hayden so far has not been linked to any other rides as of yet. He could be pushed out of the paddock to World Superbike.
Yamaha
Jorge Lorenzo has already snooped around the paddock for another ride and decided on staying with Yamaha. Ben Spies on the other hand is penciled in the continue with the Yamaha squad but not for certain as of yet.
Tech 3 Yamaha
Andrea Dovizioso signed a 2 year deal last season so he is safe. Cal Crutchlow has been linked to Ducati while Crutchlow’s seat will be filled by another English rider Bradley Smith who currently rides with the Tech3 Moto2 team.
Suzuki
This could be the game changer as Suzuki is rumored to return to MotoGP for the 2013 season.
The music keeps playing but we will find out more after riders have their meeting in Mugello.
