Tom Leip is Anxious to get in the Game

FC Edmonton is pleased to announce the signing of a new General Manager.
Tom Leip will take over day-to-day general manager duties from Acting GM Andy Smith immediately.
“Since FC Edmonton’s inception we have prided ourselves in hiring the best people for every job,” said owner Tom Fath. “From our players, coaches and trainers to our account executives, directors and front office support staff; Tom Leip fits into the team perfectly and I know his experience and expertise will help our professional soccer club continue to grow.”
Leip comes from Aloha, Oregon where he was president of SUCASE, which deals with business development and total sports entertainment. The company saw a 211 per cent increase in revenue in 2010. The 56-year-old was also Sports Sales Director for lulu.com as well as the Assistant Athletic Director at Portland State University.
Leip’s professional sports experience comes on the pitch and diamond. He was the Senior Director of Sales for both Portland’s Pacific Coast League baseball team and its United Soccer Leagues soccer team and generated record setting revenues for both organizations.
“This is quite an exciting opportunity for me personally,” Leip said. “This team is already growing quickly and I’m really looking forward to working with Mr. Fath, the team and front office to not only continue the growth but also to ensure that we’re growing in the right directions.”
Leip’s focus will be on the business side of the soccer club while Director of Soccer Operations, Joe Petrone, will continue to handle the player recruitment and development side.
