Toronto FC announced Tuesday that veteran defender Adrian Cann will miss the remainder of the 2011 season after sustaining an injury this morning in training to his knee.

"I can confirm that Adrian has torn his ACL and will miss the rest of the season," said Toronto FC Head Coach and Technical Director, Aron Winter. "It is a disappointment because Adrian has had a good start to the season and has been playing well, we will certainly miss his presence in the line-up. While it is difficult there is now an opportunity for younger players like Nana Attakora and others."

Cann, 30, is currently in his second season with Toronto FC and started in all 12 matches he has played in this year. Cann joined Toronto FC on April 12, 2010 as a free agent and went on to start in 26 games and earn team M.V.P. honours last season. Cann has also earned nine international caps for Canada during his career.
