Crew players and coaching staff to attend funeral for Kirk Urso

Major League Soccer has rescheduled the match between Columbus Crew and Toronto FC, originally slated for this Saturday in Columbus, to allow members of the Crew to attend the funeral of former teammate Kirk Urso, who died Aug. 5.

“Given the tragic circumstances we agreed to accept this change in the schedule,” said Toronto FC Head Coach and Director of Soccer Operations, Paul Mariner. “Our thoughts are with the Urso family and everyone at the Columbus Crew during this difficult time.”

The Columbus Crew vs. Toronto FC match will take place Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Crew Stadium. Both clubs agreed to the change. All tickets for Saturday’s match will be honored on August 22, when Crew Stadium gates will open at 6 p.m.
