The Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) have set out plans to form a national women’s league by the end of 2010.

The move includes the creation of a dedicated committee within the Qatar Women’s Sports Committee that will be responsible for the women’s game in the country.

“Football at every level in Qatar is developing rapidly and with our bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup gaining momentum, there has never been a more exciting time for football in Qatar and the wider region,” said Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmad Al Thani, QFA president.

Teams in the new women’s league will be incorporated into existing Qatar Stars League men’s clubs.
