Will you be wearing red this labour day weekend? In Toronto and Montréal, soccer fans are encouraged to wear their red when they come out to cheer on Canada’s national team when the international football world begins a new cycle towards the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™. Tickets are on sale for both Men’s International Friendly matches at BMO Field on Saturday 4 September and Stade Saputo on Tuesday 7 September.

Canada plays Peru on 4 September at BMO Field in Toronto, ON. Tickets to the Toronto Men’s International Friendly match are available via Ticketmaster (Ticketmaster.ca / 416.872.5000). Canada then plays Honduras on 7 September at Stade Saputo in Montréal, QC. Tickets to the Montréal Men’s International Friendly match are available via Admission (ADMISSION.com / 1.800.361.4595).

Canada’s national team will gather at the end of August in preparation for the two Men’s International Friendly matches. Players will join the national team after their professional club’s weekend matches from 28-30 August. National head coach Stephen Hart will have four days of training with the club in advance of the two Men’s International Friendly matches. After starting the week in Alliston, the team will arrive in Toronto on Thursday 2 September.

Coach Hart is scheduled to officially announce his roster the week of 23 August.

As for Canada’s two opponents, both Peru and Honduras will begin new eras in Canada under the direction of new head coaches. Peru’s new head coach is Sergio Markarian. His 4 September debut will be Peru’s first international match since 18 November 2009. Incidentally, that last match was a 2:1 victory over Honduras.

Honduras’ new national head coach has yet to be named. Their former coach Reinaldo Rueda (now in charge of Ecuador) stepped down after the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. Honduras is scheduled to play El Salvador on 4 September in Los Angeles, CA before facing Canada on 7 September in Montréal, QC.

Canada’s two Men’s International Friendly matches will be broadcast live on Rogers Sportsnet. The 4 September match kicks off at 17.30 ET / 14.30 PT while the 7 September match kicks off at 19.30 ET / 16.30 PT.
