Still a few of these limited run Fender “After The Gold Rush” amps at LA Music

By Stephen Pate – I was hunting around the web and came up with a few of these cool Fender Limited Edition Blues Junior™ III “After the Gold Rush”" 15-watt amps at LA Music . The amp has the Fender innards with a British Celestion speaker.

The Blues Jr has been around in various models since the 50′s and everybody has played one. They are light, easy to gig with and get dirty pretty quick. Check out this video to see how the Fender Limited Edition Blues Junior™ III “After the Gold Rush” performs.

The Fender Limited Edition Blues Junior™ III “After the Gold Rush” combo amplifier is 15-watt tube amp and vintage tone machine. It comes with limited-edition gold vinyl and wheat grille cloth. It obviously has its own character with 3 x 12AX7s and 2 x EL84s driving a 12&Prime Celestion Greenback G12M speaker. It goes from “Fender cleans, to crispy crunch, to growling overdrive.”

This Limited Edition amp is hard to find. As of today, they have a few Fender Limited Edition Blues Junior™ III “After the Gold Rush” amps left at LA Music for $649. That’s $120 more than the stock Fender BLUES Junior™ III Black at $529.

(The video is mis-titled but it is the Fender Limited Edition Blues Junior III “After the Gold Rush”)

Guitar player reviews

The reviews are “all good”.

“It’s a combo of the Fender and Vox sounds said one musician who bought it from Sweetwater. “I told them I was going for a Blues Jr. or a Vox AC15. This is the best of both worlds. Great Fender tone and, like the Vox, it has a Celestion Greenback speaker giving you smooth, creamy highs, and a tight low-end. Best amp I’ve ever played. My tone has never sounded so good. Definitely worth the extra $70 over the standard Blues Jr. I mic the amp on stage, so it’s 15 watts are plenty loud and then some.”

“Besides the fantastic vintage look of this amp, the Celestion Greenback speaker takes the Blues Junior tone to a whole new level,” said semi-pro musician Bronson Warren. “It really breaks up nicely and has a warm sound. It is perfect for classic rock and blues. If you are into heavy metal,,etc this amp is not what you need. The fat switch makes all the difference when you want to overdrive the sound. The American Vintage Tele I got from Sweetwater sounds great through it.”
