Microsoft ends the $99 annual fee to hear all your music anywhere with OneDrive integration

By Stephen Pate – You can now hear all your music wherever you are on any Windows 8.1 device. Xbox Music now syncs with OneDrive.

Before today you needed a Xbox Music Pass to hear music that was on one device and shared with OneDrive.  Your music should be stored in the folder OneDrive Music.

That’s a great equalizer for Microsoft with Apple who allow sharing with a $25 annual fee. Xbox Music might even pass iTunes which has been more cumbersome with each update. Recently iTunes became quite annoying by placing you in the store every time you open it.

I tried Xbox Music – OneDrive linking and it works although I didn’t spend a lot of time working every nook and cranny of my 12,000 song library. My experience has been MP3 songs work better from OneDrive than WMA or WAV files just due to the file size.

Oh happy day!

Here’s the official announcement.
