Province works with private industry to reopen provincial campground at Kehiwin Provincial Recreation Area

Edmonton… The Government of Alberta has partnered with W.L. Enterprises of Bonnyville to re-open the provincial campground at Kehiwin Provincial Recreation Area in time for the Canada Day weekend.

In late April, the recreation area was converted from overnight camping to day use after a review of usage and maintenance costs. Service reductions were announced for 19 sites in order to allocate resources to maintain the highest possible level of service throughout the provincial parks system.
Interested parties were encouraged to submit proposals to operate the sites identified for closure and agreement has now been reached with W.L. Enterprises of Bonnyville to operate the campground within Kehiwin Provincial Recreation Area.

Kehiwin Provincial Recreation Area is located on Highway 41, 15 kilometres north of Elk Point. The provincial campground has 38 units that are available for first-come first-served visitors. Onsite amenities include a boat ramp, fire pits, fish cleaning station, pier, pit toilets and pump water.
