Canadian Trooper Larry Rudd, 26 dies fighting the enemy in Afghanistan

Trooper Larry Rudd, 26

Trooper Larry Rudd 26, was killed after an improvised explosive device detonated during a routine security operation, about 20 kilometres southwest of Kandahar City, in the Panjwa'i District, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Kandahar time on 24 May 2010.

Trooper Larry John Zuidema Rudd from the Royal Canadian Dragoons, serving with 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, was based in Petawawa, Ontario

Col. Simon Hetherington called Rudd a “gentle giant”, adding he will be “remembered by the soldiers that served alongside him as a professional soldier who never complained regardless of the hardship that he and his crew endured.”

He was the 146th Canadian soldier to die since the mission began in 2002, and the eighth this year.

There’s no word yet from the Canadian Department of National Defence when the repatriation of Trooper Rudd will take place.

We at Oye! Times humbly pay our respect to Trooper Larry Rudd's family and the loved ones he left behind.

Please leave a comment or condolences for our fallen soldier.
