Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

On Monday, March 29, 2010, at approximately 5:15 p.m., a 50 year-old Mississauga man was driving his 2004 Hyundai Elantra west on Truscott Drive, just east of Agora Road. For reasons that are still under investigation, the vehicle crossed over the eastbound lane and mounted the curb on the south side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree and then struck a 40 year old Mississauga woman, who had been out walking her dog. The vehicle then proceeded across Agora Road and came to rest against a house on the west side of the Road.

Ilona KOROLEVA was taken to a local hospital, but passed away later that evening. The victim’s dog was also killed as a result of the impact.

No charges have been laid at this time.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to it.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Major Collision Bureau at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3710.
