Culver City Veteran Auditorium (Culver City, CA)

Awareness Film Festival Opening Night Benefit

Rub shoulders with VIPs, filmmakers and more on the red carpet at the gala opening-night benefit for the third annual Awareness Film Festival. Guests will attend a reception, including light hors d’oeuvres, and enjoy reserved seating for a screening of the Academy Award-nominated 2011 documentary Hell and Back Again, followed by a Q&A. Directed by Danfung Dennis, who was embedded with a U.S. Marine company in Afghanistan, this powerful true story follows a 25-year-old soldier injured in the war who struggles physically and emotionally after coming home to his wife in North Carolina. The event raises funds for veterans’ charities Heal One World, U.S. Vets and Hope for the Warriors. The Awareness Festival celebrates films that explore important issues in today’s society, from the ecological and political to issues of health and well-being and scientific progress.
