Aratani/Japan America Theatre at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center-JACCC (Los Angeles, CA)

Kinnara Bugaku/Gagaku/Taiko

Kinnara Bugaku/Gagaku/Taiko and the Arpana Dance Company take the stage at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center’s first-ever Spring festival, called LA Bloom — a new season. The beautiful classical dance known as Bugaku will be accompanied by traditional Gagaku music in the style of ancient Japanese Court Musicians. The Southern California-based Arpana Dance Company will also perform its famed Bharata Natyam work, and team with the Japanese American drumming ensemble Kinnara Taiko for a rhythmic work. That group is based out of Senshin Buddhist Temple in Los Angeles and began playing taiko in 1969.
