The original alternative comedy show is back: Un-Cabaret, Beth Lapides’ groundbreaking, open-format comedy night that helped launch the careers of Margaret Cho, Janeane Garofalo and Patton Oswalt among many others. Now in its swanky new downtown L.A. home, First and Hope, Un-Cabaret‘s latest show will feature the comedic and musical talents of Mike McDonald (MadTV, Scrubs), Kyle Kinane (named one of Variety‘s “10 Comics to Watch in 2010”), Lauren Weedman (The Five Year Engagement, True Blood), Karen Kilgareff (Mr. Show, Ellen) and Tony nominee Brian Lane Green (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat). Longtime musical director Mitch Kaplan and Lapides herself will preside over the antics. It’s an evening of cutting-edge comedy and music “un”-like anything else in town.
