Funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and supported by the Town of Markham, a total of 13 short films by York Region filmmakers, including two from Markham, ranging from students to professional filmmakers, will be showcased.  These documentaries, photo voice, docu-dramas, dramas and animations focus on the environment, social issues and diversity, including stories about bullying, homophobia, the importance of supporting local farmers, and our rising addiction to video games.

“This festival gives filmmakers across the Region the opportunity to share their perspectives on life in the Region during a period of extraordinary growth and adaptation,” said Festival Program Manager, Mona el Baroudi.

General admission is $6.00. Advance tickets are available through the Newmarket Theatre Box Office starting May 1, 2012.  Call 905-953-5300 ext 2813 or visit www.yorkregionfilmfestival.ca.  Tickets will also be available at the door at the Markham Civic Centre on May 10, 2012.
