Outfest 2012 presents a screening of Heavy Girls (Dicke Mädchen), a quirky comedy from German director Axel Reinisch. It’s the story of middle-aged bear Sven, who lives in a Berlin apartment with his elderly, eccentric mother and nurses a crush on Daniel, the handsome married man who takes care of her medical needs. When Daniel’s wife kicks him out, he’s forced to stay with Sven and his mother, leading to an unlikely and hilarious chain of events. This funny, heartfelt and intimate movie, presented with English subtitles, won a Special Jury Award for Bold Originality at the Slamdance Film Festival.
