Egyptian Theatre (Hollywood, CA)
Commemorate the death of Elvis Presley with a screening of one of his earliest and most popular movies. The King plays Vince Everett who is serving time for killing a man during a barroom brawl. Vince catches the music bug from his cellmate and former country star Hunk Houghton played by Mickey Shaughnessy. Once released from prison, Vince rises to the top of the charts as a rock n’ roll singer with songs like “Treat Me Nice,” “Jailhouse Rock” and “(You’re So Square) Baby I Don’t Care,” all penned by the writing team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Stoller will be in attendance to sign copies of his and Lieber’s book Hound Dog before the screening.
