Kix Brooks, one half of the recently-split mega-superstar duo Brooks & Dunn, is out on his own with his first solo country disc since 1989, New to This Town — though his black hat and mustache remain gloriously intact. The singer-songwriter also has a popular radio show, American Country Countdown. Brooks & Dunn launched to fame with their very first album, 1991’s Brand New Man, which also kicked off the line-dancing craze with crossover hit “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.” That led to nine more albums full of hits, 17 Country Music Association Awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards and two Grammys. Singer-songwriter Randy Houser broke out in 2008 with his hit record Anything Goes. The disc featured the smash single “Boots On.” He’s set to release his third album this year.
