The New American Theatre starts off its season with the Shakespeare tragedy that's most perfect for election time. Deep in shifting alliances and political treachery, Roman leader Julius Caesar faces a bloody coup orchestrated by his former "friends, Romans, countrymen" Brutus and Cassius, leading Shakespeare's Caesar to utter the famous line, "Et tu, Brute?" Their actions then set off a civil war at the dawn of the Roman empire. Artistic director Jack Stehlin (Captain Roy Till on Showtime's Weeds) helms the play for his award-winning company.
