Throughout his long career, Kenny Rogers has charted 121 hits across multiple musical genres. He started out in doo-wop (The Scholars) and jazz (The Bobby Doyle Trio), then moved into folk (The New Christy Minstrels), before finding major stardom in country rock (The First Edition). When he went solo, he kept all elements from all these traditions — blended harmonies, evocative lyrics, country rhythms — and blended them into a sound so singular, it’s often called “Kenny Rogers music.” It was a successful recipe, resulting in such timeless hits as “The Gambler,” “She Believes In Me,” “Lady,” and many others. Rogers has won multiple Grammys, as well as American Music, Country Music and American Country Music Awards. Now, he brings his soul-stirring voice and band of distinguished musicians to the Valley Performing Arts Center for An Evening With Kenny Rogers.
