Valley Performing Arts Center – Great Hall (Northridge, CA)
Valley Performing Arts Center welcomes the China National Symphony Orchestra to the stage. Originally founded as the Central Philharmonic Orchestra of China in 1956, the China National Symphony Orchestra (CNSO) is one of the most outstanding professional symphony orchestras in China. For nearly half a century, the CNSO has entertained audiences in China and worldwide with a vast repertoire of classical, romantic, modern and contemporary orchestral works by both Western and Asian composers. They’ve collaborated with such world-class artists as Isaac Stern, Yo-Yo Ma and Lang Lang. Now, they return to the United States with a program featuring two beautiful post-romantic compositions by Richard Strauss and Erich Wolfgang Korngold, as well as the first movement of Chinese composer Xia Guan’s Earth Requiem.
