Zipper Concert Hall at the Colburn School (Los Angeles, CA)

L.A. Opera’s acclaimed conductor James Conlon comes to the Colburn to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Benjamin Britten’s birth by leading the school’s up-and-coming classical and operatic artists in a fully-staged production of The Rape of Lucretia. Members of the Colburn Orchestra and vocalists from LA Opera’s Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program kick off each evening with an Art Song Prelude, spotlighting works by Britten and other 20th-century composers, followed by an enlightening lecture by Conlon, before a sure-to-be stirring performance of Britten’s 1946 chamber opera.
