Free, Fun Event For The Whole Family
Join in the fun at the province’s official celebration of Canada’s 143rd birthday on July 1.
The Honourable David C. Onley, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will celebrate the nation’s birthday with new Canadians and hundreds of Ontario families at Queen’s Park. The day will feature a 21-gun salute, the singing of O Canada and activities, including:
- MC Sebastien Bertrand, Canadian bilingual performer and actor
- Chinese, Caribbean, Japanese, Hawaiian, Ecuadorian and Bollywood dancers
- TVO Kids Don’t Sit Still on Main Stage
- Special Kids’ Stage with celebrities Stylamanders and Care Bears
- Inflatable playground and Sesame park
- Face painting, crafts, mural painting, and strolling performers
This year will also include autograph sessions with three Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes from the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Games: Brad Bowden (sledge hockey) – [note: Canada did not win a medal in sledge hockey during the 2010 Paralympic Games], Jayna Hefford (ice hockey), and Becky Kellar (ice hockey).
The day’s celebration will begin with a citizenship ceremony to welcome new Canadians at 11:00 a.m., followed by activities and entertainment from noon until 5:00 p.m.

- A Canada Day celebration on the front lawn of Queen’s Park has been held since Canada’s centennial birthday in 1967.
