You can thank Keith Sweat for the R&B romantic slow jam and for furthering the popularity of the New Jack Swing genre — he’s an accomplished master of both. His 1987 debut solo album, Make It Last Forever, sold three million copies, and featured the hit song “I Want Her,” which sailed to No. 1 on the R&B charts and No. 5 on the Pop charts. His other hits include “(There You Go) Telling Me No,” “Why Me Baby,” “Keep it Comin’,” “Twisted,” “Just A Touch,” “I’m Not Ready” and more. He’s sold more than 25 million records over his illustrious career, and in his Twitter bio he refers to himself as “one of the Godfathers of R&B.” See him live at Saban Theatre in a show with opening sets by Ginuwine and Jon B.
