MISAFF provides a platform for independent, diverse, conscientious South Asian cinema in long and short form, fiction and documentary. Mississauga will be the hub for interaction and engagement for an audience that loves cinema irrespective of language or culture from August 7–10, 2014, with something for everyone.

Notable films screening during MISAFF 2014 include the Canadian premiere of films such as VARA starring Shahana Goswami, directed by renowned Bhutanese Director Khyentse Norbu; Hank and Asha; the gritty Gangs of Tooting Broadway; Actor/ Director Rajat Kapoor’s charming Ankhon Dekhi; Anima State, a dark comedy and an allegorical Pakistani tale about the state of affairs in the country; and Sulemani Keeda, a comedy about film writers.

MISAFF documentaries include Meet the Patels, an audience favorite during the Toronto Hot Docs festival; Tomorrow We Disappear; and the Mississauga premiere of The Conflicted Samaritan. Short films include Canadian film Just A Prayer, starring local talents Huse Madhavji and Farah Merani; and the award-winning Quebec film Nous avions about a Pakistani family living in Montreal struggling to retain their identity as new dreams take flight.
