Brazilian percussion maestro Cyro Baptista, one of the world’s best, leads a quartet of top New York musicians in concert at Pepperdine. Baptista has performed with artists including Sting, Paul Simon, Yo-Yo Ma, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock, David Byrne, Wynton Marsalis, and Medeski Martin & Wood, as well as Brazilian music titans Milton Nascimento, Caetano Veloso, and Marisa Monte. Baptista was also seen performing in Jonathan Demme’s acclaimed 2008 film Rachel Getting Married, starring Anne Hathaway. His music achieves what All About Jazz calls “a diversity of sounds and colors that can’t be found anywhere else.”
