Aero Theatre presents back-to-back screenings of this year’s official Best Foreign Language Film Oscar submissions from Norway and Israel. Norwegian director Bent Hamer’s drama 1001 Grams is an amusing and poetic balancing of the scales between scientific understanding and human emotion. (In Norwegian with English subtitles.) Afterward, film rolls on Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem, a riveting drama by Israeli directors Ronit Elkabetz and Shlomi Elkabetz that examines the roles of men and women in a religious society where they are not always equals. (In Hebrew, French and Arabic with English subtitles.) Hamer will be on-hand for a discussion between screenings.
