Czech Philharmonic: Dvorak's "Stabat Mater"

Based on one of the most powerful medieval hymns, which meditates on the suffering of Mary during Jesus’ crucifixion, Antonin Dvorak’s Stabat Mater was the Czech composer’s first work on a religious theme. Led by internationally renowned conductor Jiri Belohlavek, who previously released a recording of the piece, the historic Czech Philharmonic and the Prague Philharmonic Choir bring this masterwork to the Valley Performing Arts Center. Dvorak spent a decade working on the 10-movement composition, with its first performance taking place two days before Christmas 1880. Now you can experience this timeless piece of music brought to life by a world-class orchestra.
