Central Java is known throughout the world for their entrancing Gamelan percussive arrangements and rich native dance traditions. The magnificent dancers of ISI Yogyakarta — some of Central Java’s most distinguished — and the musicians of Cal Arts Javanese Gamelan have collaborated for Cup Of Java. Under the direction of Javanese dance and music experts, Djoko Waluyo and I. Nyoman Wenten, this international exchange project will feature music steeped in culture, an excerpt from a classical dance drama and the American premiere of a new choreographic work.
