What started as a single YouTube video aimed at giving hope and courage to bullied LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) teens has turned into a worldwide phenomenon with rally cries echoing the catchphrase “It gets better.” Thousands of videos have flooded the internet from everyday people and celebrities like Stephen Colbert, Jane Lynch, Ellen DeGeneres, Margaret Cho, Tim Gunn, Kathy Griffin, Sarah Silverman and even President Obama. Now, the initiative takes to the stage in a nationwide tour, with music from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles — offering song and story as inspiration for LGBT youth and all those who suffer discrimination.
