Egyptian Theatre (Hollywood, CA)
A quartet of talented up-and-coming filmmakers, including Helen Hood Scheer, Alexis O. Korycinski, Amy Lee Ketchum and Lydia Hyslop, are set to be on hand for a discussion at the Egyptian in Hollywood, as their latest shorts are screened as part of the 10th annual American Cinematheque’s Focus on Female Directors. Eight films in total are scheduled to be shown, from documentaries and animation to music videos, drama and more. Scheer’s The Apothecary, which centers on the only pharmacy left within 4,000 miles of an impoverished southwest mining town, has already won a student Academy Award. There’s also a post-event reception in the lobby, featuring a drawing for a “director’s empowerment” bag.
