El Camino College Center for the Arts — Marsee Auditorium (Torrance, CA)
There is something superhuman in Nathan Stark’s cistern-deep voice, as if he had sub-woofers in his throat. An operatic bass who has already performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Madison Opera and Cincinnati Opera, Stark is one of opera’s fastest rising young stars, thanks to the energy of his stage presence, the scope of his repertoire and, in the words of The Washington Post, the “unearthly power” of his voice. Well versed in opera as well as in oratorio, Mr. Stark’s program at El Camino College Center for the Arts will include Ibert’s Quatre Chansons de Don Quichotte, Scott Grendel’s song cycle What We Did Not Know as well as arias and songs of Handel, Rossini, Verdi, and Broadway favorites.
