FACES is an exhibition of six dynamic artists whose pieces focus on emotive qualities of the face. Their approaches to their subject matter differ profoundly. FACES is a dynamic exhibition that challenges traditional portraiture using a variety of different styles and mediums. The diversity of this exhibition is what makes it truly unique. The artists differ greatly in the ways in which they portray the faces they depict, from figural to abstract from bright colour to the more subdued.

Zane Turner aspires to capture the inner child of his subject, looking for a genuinely whimsical and playful reaction, wanting the emotions of his viewers to mirror those of the figure in his pieces.

That the soul can only truly be seen through the eyes is something that Isabelle Tremblay holds true to in her most recent series, creating faces that make the viewer question what the figure is thinking and where they are coming from.

Laurence Nerbonne’s portraits of the women represent the symbols of the American Dream. Their faces immediately draw the viewer in with the sense of a fragile emotion, paradoxical to the ‘me culture’ of today.

Dominique Fortin looks to reveal the soul of her figures in her pieces. For her portraiture is a way to uncover the inner being of her subjects.

Joan Dumouchel looks to portraits as her primary subject matter here, she has left her comfort zone, a process the artist finds both destabilizing but in the end, enriching and necessary to moving her process forward.

Sylvain Coulombe enriches each of his works with texture and colour, building up the face until it speaks to him. It is this harmony that he brings to all of his faces, developing a character and bringing it to life within the confines of his medium.
