Join us for an evening of stories told by a multi-generational, multi-cultural line up of six amazing storytellers who will share true, personal stories that touch on the theme of immigration. Their story might be their own journey, a story of a parent or grandparent, or even an epic folk tale from their culture – who knows?

Stories of Ours aims to provide a safe, comfortable environment to share the stories of our lives and journeys from a multitude of cultures, ages, and voices. It aims to explore what can happen when shares stories, vulnerabilities, and strengths are brought into one space, moving towards a culture of inclusivity and away from focusing solely on exclusivity.

Toronto is a city of immigrants, and yet there are still many physical and ideological barriers preventing true integration between us all. We tend to cluster in our city, in areas, thoughts, and in habits.

Storytelling is the way to bridge the divides that naturally settle upon us – to create solidarity and understanding between us as a people instead of groups, uncover hidden and maybe even surprising connections. The challenges and successes of my Korean parents may mirror those of your Pakistani, Jamaican, or Peruvian families. Let’s explore together.
