Based on Green Day’s Grammy-winning concept album of the same name, American Idiot is a high-energy, two-time Tony-winning rock opera uses the songs from the album, plus several from its follow-up release, 21st Century Breakdown, to drive the story. Three lifelong friends — Johnny, Will and Tunny — are forced to choose between following their dreams or remaining in the safety of the suburbs. Popular songs featured in American Idiot include “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “21 Guns,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Holiday” and the title track, which was nominated for four Grammys when it was released in 2005.
