This show will feature original music and photographic images that compliment each other in a selection of duos, trios and quartets. Joining John will be Dan Ionescu – guitar, Mark Kieswetter – piano, Ross MacIntyre – bass, and Alan Hetherington – percussion.

John has an abiding passion for photography which has always been a counterweight to his musical endeavours. He worked as a press photographer on a small town weekly during the nineteen seventies and it is during this time that he developed an interest in photographing people from the inside out. He seeks to show the person behind the face.

You may notice a stark contrast between his landscapes and cityscapes. Like many people raised in a small town, John is often at odds with the big city and the photographs tend to concentrate on the grittier side of urban life. In the country he finds relief in the open spaces and quiet and this is reflected in his rural images. Time is also a recurring theme as it is the artist’s mortal enemy.

Above all, however, John is an artist in love with beauty. The magnificence of the natural world, the sublime beauty of the dance, the promise of youth, the myriad expressions of the human experience, and music, which describes the indescribable, all hold a fascination for the artist.
