2991 RELEASE PARTY x EMERGING TALENT is a celebration of OBUXUM’s EP release while sharing the stage with local artists who also use multiple mediums to express their creative expression from the GTA.

Muxubo “OBUXUM” Mohamed is an experimental multi-genre music producer and DJ. She is heavily influenced and inspired by the works of J Dilla to Fela Kuti. Her current project “2991” is a compilation of instrumentals made from 2011 through 2013. Her inspiration behind the EP goes from John Carols to Erkyah Badu.The concept of the EP serves as an introduction for OBUXUM and her artistry as a music producer. OBUXUM hopes to continue to push the boundaries and margins when it comes to hip hop production.

Starrkz is an emerging artist that is known for his paintings on T-shirts and wearables. In combining a passion for fashion and art, the painting business was born. As portrayed in his work, Starrkz seeks to convey messages, reveal truths, and battle “social abnormalities”. His purpose is to awaken minds, encourage self-esteem, and ignite social change. Starrkz provides his custom hand-painted services to the public, with a style that resembles a tattoo piece. “Tattoos for T-shirts”.
