Comedy Uncovered has teamed up with Toronto’s most progressive brewhouse for a night of epic comedy in Toronto’s West end. On Sunday, April 26 at 9pm, the Biermarkt on Queensway will rock some of the best up-and-coming standups in Toronto. With over a hundred beers to be paired with delicious Belgian fare, it’s a solid night of food and entertainment.

The first show of our three month series at the bumpin’ The Biermarkt Queensway (near Sherway Gardens), it’s one of the best shows to storm Etobicoke.

Our line-up is killer. Headlined by Steph Tolev (LA Comedy Fest, SiriusXM, the Comedy Network), plus stand up by Brian Ward (No Kidding, Top Shelf Comedy), Jay Freeborn (Tim Sims nominee, opened for Hoffstetter), plus host Nigel Grinstead (2013 Tim Sims Comedy Award, Yuk Yuks), it’s going to be great.

Did we mention the beer? Because there’s going to be tons of delicious beer.

Host: Nigel Grinstead

Nigel, a 2012 graduate of the Humber Comedy Program, hit the ground running and exploded onto Toronto’s comedy scene. By combining his honest, charismatic stage persona with his ruthless drive for success, Nigel has learned to disarm the crowd- then utterly kill- wherever he goes. His raw talent earned him the coveted Tim Sims Encouragement Fund “Cream of Comedy” title of 2013.

Jay Freeborn

Jay Freeborn is a young, up-and-comer in the Canadian Comedy scene. Regularly performing hundreds of times a year, he has appeared on BITE TV, was Runner Up in the 2014 Brantford Rising Stars contest, and was Nominated for the 2014 Tim Sims award. He also opened for Steve Hoffstetter the host of Fox’s show “Laughs”. Even though Jay does enjoy writing stuff on paper, he’d much rather yell it at strangers through a microphone.

Brian Ward

Brian Ward has been performing stand-up comedy for just about 2 years. He has a very laid back, casual style of comedy without a lot of bells and whistles, often making simple observations that come from a strange angle. Whether he’s talking about Oreo cookies or dating and relationships, his perspective is unique, yet relatable. He is also one half of the production team known as Top Shelf Comedy with his friend and colleague, Chris Allin, running multiple weekly shows throughout the city. He has performed on basically every stage in Toronto, but prefers the Top Shelf Comedy flagship room in the Beaches where he can be found on Friday nights.
