“Help! I have a Twitter account but I don’t know what to do with it!” is, hands down, the most popular comment heard about social media, from colleagues, friends or even family members.

This spring, let’s demystify Twitter once and for all. In this intensive half-day workshop, you will learn to use Twitter to follow news, to connect with influencers, to uncover business opportunities or to spread your nonprofit organization’s message.

After this workshop, you will be on your way to becoming a Twitter power user. Here’s what we’ll cover:

– Optimizing your Twitter bio.

– Learning Twitter etiquette: following, direct messages and more.

– Finding influencers.

– Protecting yourself against hackers and phishers.

– Hashtag best practices.

– Safely scheduling tweets; the dangers of over-automation.

– Dashboards like Hootsuite or TweetDeck.

– Why you should use lists, and how to set them up.

– The power of persistent searches.

– Participating in Twitter chats and Twitter parties.

– Benefiting from tools like Topicurious and ManageFlitter.

– Curating tweets with Storify and Paper.li.

– And more!

At the workshop you will receive a Twitter workbook so you can continue learning on your own.

Free Wi-Fi provided. Coffee, tea and muffins served.

Space is limited. Register today!

Note: Please bring your laptop or tablet and your Twitter login credentials. Don’t worry if you don’t yet have a Twitter account; we’ll help you set it up at the workshop.

Location: The workshop will be held in the Rogers Room #1 on the third floor at the Toronto Board of Trade. The main entrance is on the ground floor; for First Canadian Place parking, enter off Adelaide or York Streets.
