"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"

The line between faking insanity and being insane proves to be far too fine for Randle P. McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Before it was adapted into an Oscar-winning movie, Ken Kesey’s novel was made into a Tony-winning stage play. McMurphy thinks he’s pulled a fast one by feigning insanity to get out of a prison sentence. But instead of resting up at the state mental hospital, he finds himself going toe-to-toe with the controlling Nurse Ratched. The dynamics of live performance only heighten the tension between these two exquisitely drawn characters in an adaptation by Dale Wasserman (Man of La Mancha). Now, on the 50th anniversary of its Broadway debut, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest returns to the Los Angeles stage in this innovative production from Loft Ensemble.
