What is Startup Weekend?
• Startup Weekend is a global non-profit organization of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding start-ups and launching successful ventures.
• Our goal is to inspire entrepreneurial greatness in Grade 7 to 12 youth by empowering Greater Toronto Area students to learn transferable business skills using a proven experiential, hands-on learning model.
• With over 1,800 past events in 120 countries around the world last year, the basic idea is to bring people together for a weekend long experiential workshop to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.
What are the Event Benefits?
• Fostering entrepreneurial skills such as innovative thinking, effective communication, and teamwork
• Building strong community and peer connections through networking and event participation
• Developing transferable business skills with a strong emphasis on hands-on, experiential education
