"When I Was a Boy I Was a Girl"

This award-winning story of a transsexual living on the margins of Serbian society, examines the private life of Goca. Following the 2010 riots and anti-gay protests in Belgrade, Goca decides to step out and live in the open as a transsexual. Director Ivana Todorovic follows Goca through her dangerous daily life as a prostitute in a society largely intolerant to the LGTBQ community. Shot cinema vérité style, the 30-minute documentary reveals an inside look at Goca’s life and her interactions with friends and family. After the film, take part in a Q&A with Anhel, a transgender who lives in Mexico and Los Angeles.
