"Outfest 2015: Peace of Mind"

A meditation on collaboration, longing and loss, Peace of Mind is an extraordinary film born of extraordinary circumstances. While adapting Kathy Acker’s novel Kathy Goes to Haiti, trans artist-activist Flo McGarrell was killed during the 2010 Haiti Earthquake. Now director Cary Cronenwett (Maggots and Men) has woven together footage shot for the intended feature alongside lush imagery from Jacmel, the Haitian city where McGarrell lived and worked. The result is a hybrid documentary of startling intensity. Now Outfest Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival screens this unique and moving account of a very special artist and person at REDCAT: Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater.
