Though there might not be a ton of competition in “straight girl/lesbian comedy musical duo” space, Carlie and Doni are still the sub-genre’s undisputed leading act. The two best friends met in theater school, only to drop out to write silly songs and sketches together. It was a smart move because, before long, the duo was headlining The Improv and the Comedy Store with ingeniously hilarious songs like “Prince Man Boobs,” “Cameltoe” and “We’re Broke.” Recently, Funny or Die featured the hit video for their song “Gangsta Waitress” (complete with Lily Tomlin and Richard Lewis cameos) on its front page. Now see the act Los Angeles Magazine readers voted “Best Comedians in LA” when Carlie and Doni headline Flappers Comedy in Claremont.
