Generate grew out of one artist‘s desire to cultivate knowledge and community.
Born and raised in Toronto, Bronwen Sharp was keen to connect with the local independent theatre scene after eight years abroad photographing theatre in London’s West End. Bronwen began the creative process by inviting two indie artists to sit for their portraits at The Theatre Centre. This fueled a collaboration where artists recommended other artists for Bronwen to meet and photograph. As each artist was confirmed, new recommendations were put forward, and a unique lineage of sitters was generated. The intimate setting of portraiture served as the framework to talk about theatre, laugh, share, play and create.
