Santa Monica’s Aero Theatre hosts a 20th anniversary screening of the coming-of-age film Now and Then, that 1995 feel-good trip down memory lane that showed the importance of friendship. During a pivotal 1970 summer, four friends (played by Gaby Hoffmann, Thora Birch, Christina Ricci and Ashleigh Aston Moore) make a pact to always be there for one another. Twenty years later, as one is about to become a mother, the same friends reunite and reminisce. Demi Moore, Melanie Griffith, Rosie O’Donnell and Rita Wilson play the girls as adults in this poignant tale, which features a great period soundtrack — from “Sugar, Sugar” to “I Want You Back” — and the coolest treehouse since Stand By Me. After the film, stars Birch and Lolita Davidovich will join writer I. Marlene King, producers Suzanne and Jennifer Todd for a discussion moderated by Vanity Fair editor Krista Smith.
